How a client's review works¶
A client reviews a copy of the project's files that you invite them to, and this page explains what they see, who is told and what it costs; to act, see Invite a client to review and See what your client did.
The copy your client sees¶
The invitation captures the project's files exactly as they are when you select Invite client. Files you add or remove later do not reach your client by themselves.
When the files have changed, the reviewer's line on the Review tab says Working files changed since this review was shared. and offers Share updates. Choose the end day and the download setting again in Share updates with this reviewer, select Share these updates, then copy the new review link and send it. The earlier copy stays in Review history.
What a reviewer can download and add¶
- With Allow original file downloads, they can download the files as they were uploaded, except a file whose name does not match its content or that is a program, script or web page. Every other file is handed over only once its malware scan has found no threats.
- With Allow uploads, the files they add join this project's working files.
- They cannot change, remove, publish or share anything, or open any other project.
Who is told¶
The person who sent the invitation, and the colleagues who manage the project's reviews, are told on their bell when the client starts a conversation or replies in one. A colleague the client names with @ is told directly. Each notice names the reviewer and their organisation.
Showing your own conversation to the client¶
Your team's conversations stay inside your organisation. A conversation about a file, a feature or a drawn object of the review can be shown to the reviewer by marking it Visible to the client. See What a client reviewer sees.
What your client's work costs, and where it is recorded¶
Files your client adds count against your organisation's storage and uploads, not theirs. Every comment and file they send is an entry in your audit trail, naming the project and the invitation and no person at your client.
When their organisation ends it¶
A review is bound to the team it was given through and to the person's place on it. If your client's organisation takes the person off the team, archives the team or disconnects it from you, the person's link stops opening the files at once. The line on the Review tab reads Ended by their organisation.
You are told in your bell, and your audit trail records it. Putting the person back on the team does not bring the review back: invite them again, and they keep the same reference in your records. A review given to someone else on another team is not affected.
Their files and other organisations¶
A file your client added is treated like a file sent by another organisation: it reaches anyone outside your organisation only once its malware scan has found no threats, by any route. A file the scan flags is refused to you as well: you cannot download it, and nothing drawn from it is shown.
