Update a permission group¶
Who can do this
The owner and access administrators. For organisations taking part in testing roles of their own (beta).
Decide what a permission group your organisation uses does when GISweaver publishes a new version of it.
Part of the beta programme. Once it is on, your plan must also include adapting permission groups to add a new one.
- Open Access from Organisation controls. The Access page opens.
-
Select the Permissions tab. The groups list opens, with the date and what an update adds or removes beside each group.

3. Read the update beside the group. It names what the new version adds or removes.
4. Choose one for the group:
- Keep this version holds what the group carries today. The group then shows the version it is kept at.
- Use version 4 (the number is the new version) moves a kept group to that version.
- Follow GISweaver’s updates moves the group to the version in force, and each later version applies on its date.
- Copy as our own makes a group of your own, with a name and a reason, that carries what the provided group carries today.
5. Select Confirm in the group's row. The row shows the new state.
6. To clear the notice, select Dismiss beside the group. The notice goes.
What happens next¶
Later updates do not change a copy, which shows the group and version it was copied from. A permission GISweaver removes for safety is removed even from a kept group.
Keeping a version, using a new one, following updates, dismissing a notice and copying are each written to the audit trail.
If something goes wrong¶
- Your plan does not include adapting permission groups. The groups and exceptions you have keep applying. A plan that includes adapting is needed to copy a group.
Details¶
- A version that adds permissions is published at least 14 days before it takes effect. The owner and access administrators are told by the notification bell.
