Copy a link to a message¶
Every message has its own address. Paste it into another message, an email or a chat, and a colleague who opens it lands on that message, however far back it is.
-
Point at the message and select the link, Copy link, in the bar at its top right. On a phone, open the ⋮ beside its time and select Copy link.

The screen says Link copied.
-
Paste the link where you want it.
Whoever opens the link and can read the conversation lands on that message.
What happens next¶
The message opens marked for a moment, with everything after it loaded. A link to a reply opens its thread with the reply marked.
If something goes wrong¶
- The link could not be copied. Your browser did not allow it. Copy the address from the browser's address bar instead.
- This conversation is not available to you. The person who opened the link is not in the conversation. A direct conversation or a group opens only for the people in it.
- The linked message isn’t in what’s shown here. Choose Show earlier messages to look further back. The message is more than a thousand messages back; the conversation opens at its newest messages.
Details¶
- In a project's conversation, Copy link copies the address of the thread the message starts. It opens for anyone who can read the project. A thread's own menu, Thread options, has Copy link too.
- A reply has Copy link as well, in its own bar or menu.
