Sign in with a link sent to your email

Who can do this

Anyone with a GISweaver account whose email address is confirmed

Open in GISweaver

A sign-in link lets you in without typing your password: GISweaver emails a link to your address, and opening it signs you in. Use it when you do not have your password, or when password sign-in is paused.

  1. Open Email me a sign-in link, or select Email me a sign-in link under Sign in on the sign-in page.
  2. Type the address you sign in with in Email address.
  3. Select Send sign-in link. The page says If that address has an account with a confirmed email address, we have emailed a sign-in link.
  4. Open the newest email from GISweaver.
  5. Select its link. It works for 15 minutes, and once only.
  6. On the Sign in with your link page that opens, select Sign in. Nothing happens until you do.

What happens next

You are signed in, as if you had typed your password. If your account has two-factor authentication, GISweaver still asks for your code: see step 5 of Sign in to GISweaver.

If something goes wrong

  • No email arrives. The page gives the same answer for every address, so it cannot tell you whether the address has an account. Check your spam or junk folder and the spelling of the address, then ask for one new link.
  • This sign-in link has expired, was already used or was replaced by a newer one. Links work for 15 minutes and once only. Select Request a new link. and start again.
  • This link is incomplete. It may have been cut off when it was copied. The address was cut short when it was copied. Open the link from the email again, or request a new one.
  • Too many attempts. Try again in 40 seconds. (with its own seconds) Wait for the count to finish before asking again.

Details

If your account has two-factor authentication, a link does not lift a password pause: wait the minutes the sign-in page shows.
