Offer ownership of your organisation to another person, who becomes the Owner only when they accept.

  1. Open People in the Console.

    The people of your organisation are listed.

  2. Select More.

    A menu opens with Transfer ownership in it.

  3. Select Transfer ownership.

    The question Transfer ownership of this organisation? opens, with the line Nothing changes yet. We email the address below; whoever holds it becomes the owner only when they accept and agree to the terms. You become an admin.

  4. Type the new owner's address in New owner’s email address.

    The address can be outside your organisation. Someone who has left for another organisation signs up as they accept.

  5. Type Your password. If your account uses an authenticator app, type the Authenticator code instead.

    You are asked again because you cannot undo the transfer afterwards.

  6. Select Send transfer request.

    The notice reads Ownership offered to the address you typed. An ownership transfer is waiting shows the address it was sent to and when it expires.

What happens next

Nothing changes until the person accepts. The request lasts 7 days. To accept, the person must sign in with the address you typed.

When they accept and agree to the terms, they become the Owner and you become an Admin.

To call the request off before then, open People again. Select Withdraw the request. It asks for no password.

If something goes wrong

  • Turn on two-factor authentication before handing this organisation over. This account signs in through Google and has no password to re-enter. Your account has no way to prove it is you. Turn on two-factor authentication, then try again.
  • Ownership can’t be transferred yet because there are no owner terms to accept. Contact support. Contact GISweaver support.
  • A change of ownership is already waiting to be accepted. Withdraw it first. Select Withdraw the request, then send a new one.
  • You are already the owner. The address you typed is your own. Type the new owner's address.
