Create your first project¶
Who can do this
Owners, administrators and branch managers (a manager in their own branch). Every plan. A plan allows a number of new projects a month.
Create the project that your first survey files will go into.
- Open New project. The New project form opens. (From Getting started, select New project.)
- Type the project's Name: what the work is, in words. The name shows in the field.
- Leave the Project number as suggested, or type the number your organisation uses. The number shows in the field.
- Under Coordinate system, type the EPSG code the survey is delivered in, such as 4326, in Coordinate system (EPSG code). The code shows in the field.
- Select Create project. GISweaver creates the project.
What happens next¶
GISweaver says Project created. and opens the project's page. Create your first project on the checklist now reads Done. Next, add your first survey files.
If something goes wrong¶
- Give the project a name. Type a name and select Create project again.
- An EPSG code is a whole number, like 4326. Type the code as a number, without the letters EPSG.
- Your plan is full for projects this month. Your plan's allowance of new projects for the month is used up.
The full form, including Client, and every refusal are on Create a project.
Details¶
A project holds one piece of survey work: its files, its map, its conversation and the versions you deliver from it.
If you clear the Project number, GISweaver gives the next one; you can change it later. The form names the branch as a line, such as In and the branch's name; a new organisation has one branch, so there is nothing to choose. You can correct the EPSG code until the project holds a map file, so check it in the survey's specification first.
An EPSG code is the number that names a coordinate system: the grid a survey's coordinates are measured on. 4326 is WGS 84, in degrees.
