Read a bearing between two positions¶
Give the Coordinates panel two positions to read the direction and the grid distance from one to the other.
- With a project open on the map, select Coordinates in the rail on the left. It is on a tablet or a computer; a phone does not offer it.
- Give the panel a position, then select Set as first point under Between two points. The position is kept as the first point.
- Give the panel a second position, then select Set as second point. The panel shows the reading.
What happens next¶
The panel lists Grid bearing, Grid distance, True azimuth and Grid convergence. The bearing and the distance are computed on the project's grid, the one a setting-out crew turns.
A grid distance is not a ground distance. Select Clear both points to start again.
If something goes wrong¶
- Set two positions to read the bearing between them. Only one point is set. Give the panel the other position and select its button.
- A bearing cannot be computed for this release, because its coordinate system is not one this map can convert to. The panel shows no bearing; an angle in degrees of longitude and latitude would not be one.
