Reset a forgotten password

Who can do this

Anyone with a GISweaver account

Open in GISweaver

If you cannot remember your password, GISweaver emails you a link to choose a new one. Choosing it also signs you out everywhere else, so it is the right step when you think someone else may know your old password.

  1. On the sign-in page, select Forgot your password? beside Password.
  2. Type the address you sign in with in Email address, and select Send reset link.
  3. Open the newest email from GISweaver and select its link. It works for one hour.
  4. On Choose a new password, type your new password in New password. It needs at least 12 characters.
  5. Type it again in Confirm new password.
  6. Select Change password.

What happens next

The sign-in page opens and says Your password has been changed. Sign in with the new one. Every other place you were signed in is signed out. Sign in with the new password.

If something goes wrong

  • No email arrives. The page says If an account exists for that address, we have emailed a reset link. It works for one hour. for every address. Check your spam or junk folder and the spelling of the address, then ask once more.
  • The two passwords do not match. Type the same password in both boxes.
  • This reset link has expired, was already used or was replaced by a newer one. Links work for one hour and once only. Select Request a new link.
  • This link is incomplete. It may have been cut off when it was copied. The address was cut short when it was copied. Open the link from the email again.
  • A password that is too short, too long (more than 128 characters) or too common is refused with a sentence under New password saying what to change.

Details

If password sign-in is paused, a reset ends the pause, unless two-factor authentication is on. A reset does not switch off two-factor authentication: you still need your authenticator app or a recovery code to sign in.
