Change the base map¶
Turn the street map under the survey on to see where the site is, or off to see the survey alone.
- With a project open on the map, select Layers in the rail on the left (on a phone, the Layers tab). The panel lists the survey's layers.
- Find Base map source under the list of layers.
- Select the street map to show it, or Survey layers only to hide it. The map redraws.
What happens next¶
The line under the layer list says what the survey is drawn over, or Survey layers only.
If something goes wrong¶
- The base map has no detail for this area. The street map does not reach this place. The survey layers are still drawn in full.
- Survey layers only, with Choose a base map beside it, at the top of the Layers panel: the base map is off. Select Choose a base map to go to Base map source and turn it on.
- There is no Base map source: this account has no base map. The survey is drawn alone; nothing is wrong with it.
Details¶
The base map is a street map from OpenStreetMap. It is on when you first open a project. Its credit is in the corner of the map.
The base map is for orientation only and proves nothing about the survey's position or accuracy.
The product words on this page are explained in the glossary.
